I am a lifelong Connecticut resident and have been a licensed Physical Therapist in this state for more than 20 years. In 1999, I graduated from Sacred Heart University with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy. I returned to graduate school to further my education and received my Doctoral degree in physical therapy from Boston University in 2006. In graduate school, I completed my residency at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and Yale New Haven Hospital.
I have always been very passionate about working with children with special needs and, as a result, I made the decision to transition from a medical-based clinic to a pediatric setting. Since making that transition I have dedicated my career exclusively to the field of pediatrics. In this capacity, I have worked in various pediatric settings including school districts, outpatient and Birth to Three. After starting my family, I began working in numerous school districts including Seymour, Ansonia, Derby, and New Haven through Area Cooperative Educational Services (ACES). For the last 17 years I have worked for the Trumbull Public School system and have been involved in developing and expanding their fully inclusive special needs preschool and their early intervention programs. I have also spearheaded the development of their preschool gross motor curriculum ensuring that all students are provided with the opportunity to engage in age-appropriate movement activities. On a daily basis I work collaboratively with BCBAs, psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, special education teachers and parents. I have extensive experience working with children of all ages and of varying abilities and I truly understand that it takes a team to support and encourage our youngest learners.
During my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, who is my biggest cheerleader, and my 3 children. My hobbies include spinning, hiking and watching my children play sports. I am the owner of Benchmark Pediatric Rehabilitation Services which I started due to an overwhelming need to provide support to families in their home setting.
Our mission is to take the stress out of getting your child to therapy by bringing the therapy to you! Let's face it, being a parent is hard and trying to get your child to their weekly therapy appointments often involves taking time off of work, arranging childcare for siblings and packing your child into the car every week. This can be overwhelming especially if your child has more than one therapy session a week. We are a mobile pediatric therapy service that comes directly to your home to work with you and your child in a familiar setting where your child feels safe and supported. We are determined to make accessing therapy for your child as easy as possible.
Here at Benchmark Pediatrics, we value and understand that children develop and grow at their own pace. Most children develop skills on their own as a natural process of maturing, but some kiddos need just a little support.
