Hi, I'm Dr. Marcy Fernandes

I am a lifelong Connecticut resident and have been a licensed Physical Therapist in this state for more than 20 years. In 1999, I graduated from Sacred Heart University with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy. I returned to graduate school to further my education and received my Doctoral degree in physical therapy from Boston University in 2006. In graduate school, I completed my residency at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and Yale New Haven Hospital.

I have always been very passionate about working with children with special needs and, as a result, I made the decision to transition from a medical-based clinic to a pediatric setting. Since making that transition I have dedicated my career exclusively to the field of pediatrics. In this capacity, I have worked in various pediatric settings including school districts, outpatient and Birth to Three.

After starting my family, I began working in numerous school districts including Seymour, Ansonia, Derby, and New Haven through Area Cooperative Educational Services (ACES). For the last 17 years I have worked for the Trumbull Public School system and have been involved in developing and expanding their fully inclusive special needs preschool and their early intervention programs.

Frequently Asked Questions

We provide pediatric physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy right in your own home.

Benchmark Pediatrics can provide personalized therapy from birth to age 21.

The first step is to give us a call and review your concerns. Once we determine which provider is the most appropriate, we can schedule an evaluation where we come directly to your home at a time that is convenient for you. You will receive a one-to-one visit from a therapist that will review your concerns, evaluate your child and develop a comprehensive, individualized plan. Depending on your child’s needs you might need a follow up visit or continued service. The plan that is developed will depend on the needs of your child and what fits your family.

We offer a variety of pricing options to fit your needs. Please contact us for more information.

We are a private pay provider and considered out of network for most health insurance carriers. Without the needless constraints imposed by a healthcare carrier (such as pre-authorizations or capped visits) you can enjoy the flexibility of having services provided to your child as you see fit. All associated costs for the therapy visit will be known upfront.
Most insurance carriers consider our services to be reimbursable through health savings accounts, health reimbursement accounts or flexible spending accounts. We will provide you with a superbill and any additional documentation necessary to maximize your healthcare coverage.

We accept personal checks and Venmo. All payments are due at the time services are rendered.

Just give us a call! During that initial conversation we can discuss your concerns. You can learn a little more about the services we offer and how we can help.

The initial visit will be a combination of parent interview and interaction/playing with your child. The evaluation may be standardized, functional observations or a combination of the two depending on your concerns, the age of the child and their willingness to work with the therapist. Once the evaluation is complete, the results will be reviewed and recommendations will be discussed.

We do not have a traditional brick and mortar building. Benchmark Pediatrics is a mobile therapy service that comes directly to your home.

We serve Fairfield and New Haven County. Want to know more? Contact us
